Thankfully, or sadly, depending on how your season went, the marathon of the regular season is over and itโs time to take a look at some dynasty buy-low and sell-high players. Buy-lows are players who took a leap this season, or should take one next year, while sell-highs are players who may have over-performed this season and may not live up to the hype next year.
Buy Lows
Luka Doncic
Luka has found a permanent new home in L.A. and after looking back at his time in Dallas, is probably thankful that heโs now a Laker. Nico Harrison got rid of many of Lukaโs โguysโ in Dallas and my guess is that the Lakers will give him a medical/training staff of his choosing next season. LeBron James isnโt going to be around for too much longer and itโs only a matter of time before the Lakers are solely Lukaโs team. My guess is that heโll be healthier and happier in L.A. than he was in Dallas and the future is looking bright for the generational superstar. โBuy lowโ may not be the right term for Luka since he finished as a Top 10 player on a per-game basis, but he should be locked into first-round value for the next 10 years or so. And heโs finally making free throws (78.5% last season). Maybe his fantasy manager hates the Lakers, which could work in your favor if youโre trying to make a blockbuster deal.
Amen Thompson
Thompson was a fifth-round value this season on a per-game basis but his arrow is pointing straight up. He should be on the Rocketsโ โdo not tradeโ list and they would be smart to build around him going forward. Fred VanVleet should be on his way out in Houston and while Jalen Green can handle bringing the ball up the court and running the offense, Thompson could end up being the teamโs point guard of the future. Or small forward, take your pick. Over the final two months of the season, he was a Top 45 player and heโs only going to get better. Thompsonโs asking price in fantasy will never be lower than it is right now, as I expect him to take another big leap next season.
