Every starting quarterback matters in Superflex leagues. There are even some high priority backups that matter. Getting the best bang for your buck on QB can be crucial in maximizing your potential weekly output. Every year there’s a couple of surprises at the helm of NFL offenses, such as Baker Mayfield (QB10) and Joe Flacco (QB7 Weeks 13-18) in 2023, Geno Smith (QB5) and Daniel Jones (QB9) in 2022, Davis Mills (QB10 Weeks 14-18) in 2021, so on and so forth. Nailing your top-two QBs is integral to keeping pace in Superflex leagues, but the third QB has almost infinite value if you are able to hit on them. Injuries happen, see Joe Burrow last season and it’s also nice to have a solid option for bye weeks. If you are able to hit the lottery with your third QB or snagging a backup QB who ends up starting, you can often trade them for an elite WR/RB/TE to really propel your team to the next level. As for 2024, there are a few guys I’m keeping an eye on later in my Superflex drafts that I like to take the leap and surprise people. You’ll also find some QB “handcuffs” or backup QBs I like to target as well.
Will Levis (QB24)
After taking over for Ryan Tannehill midway through the year, Levis was a mixed bag. While there was certainly some negatives, what if he’s as good as his rookie debut, but now surrounded by a lot more talent? They go five deep with WRs DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley, and Tyler Boyd while also boasting two catching RBs in Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears. Though not a world beater by any means, Levis also has a capable pass catching tight end in Chig Okonkwo. Last season, he threw for four touchdowns in his NFL debut. Unfortunately that was as good as it got, as he only threw for multiple TDs once more. He didn’t get your fantasy lineup much with yards either, only going over 300 once and otherwise no games over 262 yards. So, why is Will Levis worth betting on? Part of it is the flash that was his first start. He looked the part, throwing dimes down the field. The other part is the fact that Levis did a good job protecting the ball last year as well, only throwing four INTs in nine games. He will need to reduce the times he puts the ball on the ground though, fumbling seven times (four lost) in those same nine games last season. Should he be able to clean that up and take the next step with a superior supporting cast, the Titans’ second year signal caller could find himself amongst the top-15 QBs, which would be a steal at his current going rate.
