Week 5: Top Performers of the Week

  • With Week 5 in the books, it’s time to take a look at the fantasy options who made their GMs scream with joy as they watched the points roll in. This article is not to help with waiver wire pickups, but rather just to give gold stars to the top performers of the week. To find our waiver wire column, click here.

All stats are based on PPR scoring.

    QB

    Josh Allen, Bills

    35.16 Fantasy Points, QB1

20-for-31, 424 passing yards, four touchdowns, one interception, five carries for 42 yards

    Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs

    30.48 Fantasy Points, QB2

29-for-43, 292 passing yards, four touchdowns, four carries for 28 yards

Jalen Hurts deserves a shout-out with his two rushing touchdowns against a hopeless Cardinals squad that resulted in him finishing as the QB3 of the week. While I was definitely wrong on our weekly Youtube pregame show hosted by JP Sticco of Fantasy NFL Today, both his and Michael Fiddle’s top QB plays of the week came through with the QB1 and QB3 finish on the week. With both QBs geared up to play against each other this week, it’s fitting that we discuss them both here.

While the Chiefs defense has improved so far this season, Allen still has a much better matchup this coming week than Mahomes as the Bills present a much more difficult challenge Kansas City. Regardless, both players remain must-start options every single week and they showed why against some soft opponents this past weekend. Mahomes is currently graded out as the second best passer according to PFF through five weeks while Allen ranks fifth. There is a reason why they cost such high draft capital and no matter whether you look at traditional or advanced stats, the top-end cream like these two will always rise to the top.
