Erik Swanson (RP, Blue Jays):

Erik Swanson put up an elite season in 2022 for the Mariners. Swanson, Munoz and Sewald provided a high leverage strength for the Mariners. Toronto saw Swanson’s season and promptly traded Teoscar Hernandez for Swanson. What was so special about Swanson in 2022? Swanson put up a 1.68 era, 0.91 whip, and 70ks in 53 innings for the Mariners. Now in Toronto, Swanson is the primary setup man for Jordan Romano and pitches in some high leverage slots. He is tied for the MLB lead with 5 holds, and I can see him winning the holds crown. Swanson even has value in non holds leagues due to his ratio upside and K rate. He was ranked top 150 in 2022 category and roto leagues. Swanson is off to a hot start with a 2.45 era and 0.95 whip. Leaning into ratio reducers is a solid move. Swanson and another elite ratio/k rate RP is like grabbing an extra ace. If you have excess bench bats, Swanson could be your guy.
