Fantasy Preview: Buccaneers @ Cowboys (9/11/22)

  • Buccaneers (-145) vs. Cowboys (+2.5): Sept 11

America’s Team vs. the GOAT. What a great Week 1 Sunday Night Football matchup.  Both teams have something to prove as they head into this season hoping for a Superbowl.  The Bucs and Cowboys both have powerful offenses to accompany their strong defenses and this game projects to be a pretty exciting matchup.

    Cowboys

    QB

Dak Prescott is potentially one of the most disrespected players during drafts this season.  He led the Cowboys to the highest scoring offense a year ago, but somehow was still drafted outside of the top-10 at the position in many leagues. Prescott always has the potential to finish comfortably inside the top-3 on any given week and is a great option in all formats.

    RB

The Cowboys backfield looks to be similar to what it was a year ago. When fully healthy, Ezekiel Elliott will take the lead with Tony Pollard playing a pass-catching role.  Pollard is a very capable back as well, but is likely only in flex-consideration, at best, in most leagues, while Zeke is worthy of a RB2 spot.  The Bucs have an incredibly strong rushing defense, which may favor Pollard’s ability to catch the ball in space, opposed to Zeke’s between-the-tackles approach to running.  In Week 1 against the Bucs last season, Elliott ran 11 times for 33 yards.  Fantasy GMs need to be prepared for a tough outing from both backs and should pivot, if possible.
