Fantasy Recap: Bills @ Rams (9/8/22)

  • Final score: Bills 31, Rams 10 (Bills covered -2.5, U 51.5)

The Bills Mafia landed its first hit in a big way, routing the defending Super Bowl champs and easily looking like the more championship-caliber team. In fantasy terms, most Bills starters played like stars including a near-perfect game from their QB. On the Rams side, the defending AP Offensive Player of the Year in Cooper Kupp was the only player to show up for their fantasy managers. The final combined score was more than 10 points below the betting total, as both fantasy D/ST units put up strong performances.

    Bills

    QB

The 2020 MVP runner-up may grab the top step this season if he keeps playing the way he did out of the gate. As Cris Collinsworth put it on the TV broadcast, Josh Allen evoked Tom Brady-esque precision with how he picked apart the Rams defense all evening. Allen finished 26-for-31 (83% completion) for 297 yards passing, 3 TD, 2 INT (though the one targeting Isaiah McKenzie wasn’t his fault, as McKenzie’s bobble was the culprit) while adding 56 yards and 1 TD on the ground for a total 35-point output. If he can do this to a Top-five defense like the Rams, he should feast over the next month against the Titans, Dolphins, Ravens and Steelers.

    WR

A new dynamic receiving duo may be emerging with Stefon Diggs (8-122-1) and Gabe Davis (4-88-1) both having excellent season debuts thanks in large part to Jalen Ramsey getting absolutely toasted while allowing a perfect passer-rating of 158.3 to Allen. Diggs mastered the tight windows allowed to him by the Rams secondary as Allen repeatedly threaded the needle, while Davis truthers woke up Friday feeling great about the first piece of evidence that the playoff explosion from him wasn’t a fluke.
