• How’d We Get Here?

The Cavs remained a mess, whiffing on John Beilein as the coach to get them out of the gutter and then juggling a number of positional logjams. Kevin Love’s contract looks increasingly untradeable and Cleveland doubled down on their big-heavy roster by trading for Andre Drummond’s albatross deal. There were positive steps from Collin Sexton, Darius Garland and others, but the 2019-20 season just reinforced how far the Cavs still have to go.

It was a relatively quiet offseason for the Cavs, who picked up Isaac Okoro in the draft to bolster a thin wing rotation and largely stayed under the radar after Drummond picked up his contract option. There were some minor pickups in free agency but the Cavs have set it up to let their young guys take the reins.
