Fantasy Basketball Draft Guide 2026: Face-off, Evan Mobley vs. Chet Holmgren

By SportsEthos Staff Published October 15, 2026 2 min read

Our Fantasy Face-Off series will feature two SportsEthos staffers making their arguments in a head-to-head battle of comparable fantasy players.

Evan Mobley and Chet Holmgren sport similar skill sets and are typically off boards in the second round or third round, depending on the platform. Today it’s Mike Passador in Evan Mobley’s corner and Pedro Oliveira throwing his support toward Chet Holmgren.

Mobley had a solid season but left some money on the table. His points, rebounds, blocks and 3-pointers were all close to his personal best while his assists were a new career-high. That ended up being undone by dreadful work at the free throw line, with Mobley sliding down the board as he clanked shot after shot at the stripe. He provided the Cavs with tremendous defense and solid secondary offensive impact but fantasy managers needed him to avoid that one big misstep. Mobley was able to finish top-20/10 in 8/9-cat when you punt free throws but was just 59/499 in the big picture to fall short of his ADP.

Holmgren was able to finish 27/19 in a resurgent season that saw him bounce back with 69 appearances after playing only 32 the season before. The only question about Holmgren was availability and he was able to stay in the lineup for the bulk of the campaign, never missing more than three contests in a row. None of his single stats was mind-blowing on its own but the total package was superb and Holmgren did manage new career-highs in points, rebounds and FG% to help offset a career-low (but still very good output) in blocks, which are meant to be his signature category. Holmgren wasn’t the game-changer in blocks you might’ve expected him to be but he was still excellent there while dragging up a few other key numbers. Add in the good health and it’s hard not to be pleased with his work.
