Fantasy Basketball Draft Guide 2026: Toronto Raptors Team Preview

How’d We Get Here?
The Raptors took a big swing on acquiring Brandon Ingram but it paid off quite well. Despite a clunky roster fit, Toronto went out of the way to get Ingram comfortable and in a groove. It yielded an All-Star season and the Raptors made their return to the playoffs. Scottie Barnes took another leap thanks in large part to abandoning the primary scoring burden and was a defensive menace all over the court. Rookie Collin Murray-Boyles stepped up amid constant injury troubles for Jakob Poeltl and gave the Raptors yet another versatile, swarming defensive presence. Led by head coach Darko Rajakovic, who received a multi-year extension after the season, the Raptors slotted in where you’d expect — they looked great against weaker teams, could hang with other playoff squads and really struggled against the upper echelon of the league. It was a great growth year for the entire organization and Rajakovic, Barnes, Murray-Boyles and Jamal Shead in particular were all outstanding in the playoffs. Toronto, missing starting PG Immanuel Quickley for the entire series and Ingram for the last two games (he was also ineffective when he did play), pushed the much more talented Cavs to seven games. Barnes was far and away the best player on the floor in that series but it was fair to question how much higher that group could go given the fit problems and roster weaknesses. That prompted the Raptors to take a big risk and trade for Kawhi Leonard. Toronto is the only market in the league that would welcome Leonard with open arms at this point and he knew it too; the problem is that the league’s ongoing investigation over potential salary cap circumvention has delayed the completion of the deal, and there are potential league punishments that could derail the trade entirely. If it goes through, the Raptors will have turned their Ingram dice roll into a one-year value bump that returned a franchise icon and top-10 player in the game while placing the team in the upper tier of a suddenly stacked Eastern Conference. If it doesn’t, things will be a little awkward to say the least.
