Unlike middle infield, the options later in the draft and at the bottom of this list are not nearly as…. scary.
However, it is worth noting that 20 of the first 30 corner infielders are first basemen.
3B is an awfully shallow position this year as managers need to be very careful to thread a tight rope in this year’s draft.
Not everyone can land one of the top options as there might be some pressure to reach in an early round to snag a third baseman at a price that doesn’t match their real value.
In a deeper setup like a 15-team league, this might be more do-able, but in a standard 12-team league, that needs to not happen.
There are third baseman toward the back half of this list that are fine values for the draft price they will cost you.
At first base, there is no pressure at all to get one of the bigger names.
If they fall to you at the right price, then yes, take them.
But don’t feel like you have to. There are plenty of first base options later in the draft that will provide you with solid value.
I will be updating this list throughout spring training to account for:
- Spring training performance – Do we see a regression in things like bat speed or do they chase more than usual?
- Injuries – self explanatory.
- Announcements – some players we are waiting to find out where they are in the lineup or if they will be stuck in a platoon. Some have injury updates that may impact their ranking as well.
My top-10 are free to all but to get access to the full list, you will need to have an MLB FantasyPass membership.
TOP-10 CORNERINFIELDERS (ON THE HOUSE)
Rank Name Position Team Analysis 1 Jose Ramirez 3B CLE Consistent and steady first round production year in and year out and at a shallow third base position. 2 Junior Caminero 3B TBR Some fear of him going to the Trop but has slowly improved his lift and pull to go with elite quality of contact metrics to allow his power to play most any where. 3 Vladimir Guerrero 1B TOR Still can't lift the ball enough to put him over Caminero but has proven to be an elite producer worthy of this spot in the ranks 4 Pete Alonso 1B BAL This Baltimore lineup will afford him ample RBI opportunities as he has been a consistent source of pwoer through the years. 5 Nick Kurtz 1B ATH If he does it again with such a poor K% I will be the first to rank him as the top first baseman. But I need to see it again before I can do that. 6 Jazz Chisholm 2B/3B NYY The potential for 40/40 can let managers overlook a low average. 7 Matt Olson 1B ATL Good average, elite power, plays every day. 8 Rafael Devers 1B SFG His power metrics are more than elite enough to let his power play in San Fran 9 Manny Machado 3B SDP Death. Taxes. And Manny Machado being a rock solid fantasy producer. 10 Freddie Freeman 1B LAD The elite team context keeps him in the top 10 of the corner infielders Want to get access to the full outfield rankings and Williamson 300?
