• With the fantasy playoffs in full swing, I am removing the buys and sells to completely focus on possible pickups or drops. All averages quoted are accurate as of Sunday night’s games.

As always here is a reminder of the differences in the scoring systems for ESPN Standard Points Leagues and Yahoo Standard Points Leagues.

Of course, we have a new format, which is Yahoo’s “High Score.”

    The High Score System is:ย
Points = 1 fantasy point each
Rebounds = 1 fantasy point each
Assists = 2 fantasy points each
Steals = 3 fantasy points each
Blocks = 3 fantasy points each

    As a general rule:ย

ESPN Standard Scoring will give a slight boost to players who are more efficient and get more defensive stats in addition the usual volume stats we want in points leagues.

Yahoo Standard Scoring will give a very slight boost to good rebounders and players who are high-volume offensive engines, even if they are inefficient, but turnovers still come at a cost.

High Score takes leaning into offensive volume at a higher level, meaning players who take a bunch of shots and get a ton of assists are greatly rewarded with absolutely no hits for inefficiency or turnovers.

    Fantasy Playoff Notes

I want to check the thresholds here for “streamer-level players.” Focus on the values more than the actual players, as the individual player’s value obviously fluctuates throughout a season.

    For ESPN Points Leagues:
80th = OG Anunoby at 33.1 fantasy points per game.
90th = Darius Garland at 31.8 fantasy points per game.
100th = Shaedon Sharpe/Donte DiVincenzo at 30.9 fantasy points per game.
120th = Derik Queen at 28.8 fantasy points per game.
150th = Quentin Grimes at 24.9 fantasy points per game.

Most of my experience is in ESPN points leagues (10-team, 12-team, 16-team and 20-team leagues). I’ve usually preferred to roster players averaging around 30-plus fantasy points per game in the 10- or 12-team formats, but that could vary based on roster strength, league competitiveness and of course, depth. Obviously, don’t drop a player below that threshold if you cannot easily replace them or stream out their spot.

    For Yahoo Points Leagues:
80th = Paul George at 32.00 fantasy points per game.
90th = Andrew Wiggins at 31.06 fantasy points per game.
100th = Keegan Murray/CJ McCollum at 29.97 fantasy points per game.
120th = Neemias Queta at 27.56 fantasy points per game.
150th = Kyle Filipowski at 24.65 fantasy points per game.

For Yahoo leagues, I think about 29.00 fantasy points per game is the general threshold for a 10- to 12-team league.

    For High Score Points Leagues:
    50th = Zion Williamson/Dejounte Murray/Domantas Sabonis at 39 fantasy points per game.
60th = Jrue Holiday and 10 other players tied at 38 fantasy points per game.
100th = Derik Queen and six other players tied at 32 fantasy points per game.

Since High Score is tricky as a 10-team league where you start six players, I am mostly interested in the 50-to-60 range as the “minimum threshold” for potential value. Beyond that, from my own observations, I think having players whose “spike value” or “ceiling” can give them a weekly “high score” of around 50 fantasy points (or more, of course), even if their average is in the lower 30s, would make sense.

Six spots and 50 points gives you a weekly score of 300. That definitely isn’t always enough to win, but it will have you “above .500.”

    ESPN & Yahoo Format Adds

Mainly due to how the formats work in terms of league size and general outlooks, adds for the ESPN and Yahoo system should overlap.
If they don’t I will specify next to the player.

Also, I assume Jayson Tatum and Dejounte Murray are likely rostered. Murray does only have two games this week, which sucks, but both should be interesting options the rest of the way.

    Quentin Grimes

Tyrese Maxey is set to see a specialist, so Grimes might just have a chance to start for a while depending on how things break.

    Nique Clfford

Clifford is averaging over 30 fpts/g over the past four weeks, which is a large sample size of value for both ESPN and Yahoo formats.
