A couple of weeks ago it was the quarterback position that got absolutely ravaged by injury. This week, it was the wide receivers. Look here for updates and how to pivot to what’s next.
Lamar Jackson – Ravens – Hamstring
Jackson left Sunday’s game due to a hamstring strain and did not return. The main reason for not returning was the score as the Ravens were down multiple scores to the Chiefs at the time of the injury. However, head coach John Harbaugh confirmed that Jackson would not have been able to finish the game even in a normal game script, leaving his status for Week 5 in doubt. If Jackson can’t go, Cooper Rush would take over the starting job but he is not a viable fantasy starter, it would be be beneficial to browse the waiver wire and look for the best stream matchup possible.
Jaylen Warren – Steelers – Knee
Warren suffered an undisclosed knee injury late in the week during the Steelers’ trip to Ireland and was unable to play in Sunday’s win over the Vikings because of it. The extent of the injury is unknown at this time and the Steelers are on a bye week. With that being the case, Woody Marks is expected to get an increased workload and is only 37% rostered on sleeper. He becomes a priority add as he has a prime opportunity to take over the Texans’ backfield.
Bucky irving – Buccaneers – Ankle
Irving suffered an undisclosed ankle injury in the Buccaneers loss to the Eagles on Sunday. Head coach Todd Bowles said Monday that he was scheduled to get an MRI but no results have been disclosed yet. Should Irving not go, Rachaad White should take over the RB1 duties for the Buccaneers, reprising a role that was initially his until Irving took the role himself. White would become a priority add if available and a must start against a Seahawks defense that has struggled to stop the run so far this season.

Premium Access RequiredTyreek Hill – Dolphins – Knee
Hill suffered a dislocated knee as well as tearing multiple ligaments, including his ACL. This will likely end his season. Jaylen Waddle becomes the top wide receiver in Miami and in his place Malik Washington becomes the number two. The player to add here may be Darren Waller, who made his debut in Week 4 and scored a pair of touchdowns. His role should likely increase as he continues to get back up to game speed.
Malik Nabers – Giants – Knee
Nabers suffered a torn ACL in the Giants’ win over the Chargers on Sunday, likely putting an end to his season. In his place Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton should expect to see increased roles, especially to help out rookie Jaxson Dart.
Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings – 49ers, Knee, Ribs
Pearsall hurt his knee in the third quarter of Sunday’s 49ers loss to the Jaguars and did not return. Head coach Kyle Shanahan hinted Pearsall may have a minor PCL injury and a bone bruise in his knee. With a short week, the 49ers did not practice Monday but released a hypothetical practice report and Pearsall was listed as a DNP, putting his status for Thursday in doubt.
Jennings left Sunday’s game with a rib injury and was able to mostly play through it. In the same hypothetical practice report, Jennings was listed as a limited participant so that at least gives him a chance to play Thursday.
If Pearsall can’t go, but Jennings can…Jennings will take the WR1 duties for the night for the 49ers and should be started as he had a 10 catch, 175 yard, 3 touchdown performance in his last game in Los Angeles facing a similar situation amongst 49ers pass catchers. If both can’t go, DeMarcus Robinson would take over the WR1 and Kendrick Bourne WR2, but neither can be trusted right now as viable fantasy wide receivers.
Cedric Tillman – Browns
Tillman suffered a hamstring injury in the Browns’ loss to the Lions on Sunday and has already been ruled out for Week 5 as they head overseas to take on the Vikings. Isaiah Bond will take over as the WR2 but with a tough matchup and lingering uncertainty at the quarterback position, it would be best to look on the waiver wire and add another wide receiver with a more stable situation.
