How’d We Get Here?
After trading away Karl-Anthony Towns in a deal that felt a little light on return from a talent-level perspective, the Wolves ended up right back in the Western Conference Finals. There were bumps in the road as Julius Randle needed some time to find his footing and the team had to work around Mike Conley’s decline, but the combination of coaching, continuity, Anthony Edwards’ continued growth and some key contributions from guys like Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid got the Wolves to the same place they were at with KAT. Minnesota spent the offseason largely under the radar. They lost Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who priced himself out of staying with a strong season, and made no notable additions. They’re hoping that another year of chemistry can get this group over the hump.
