How’d We Get Here?
Free and clear of the Jimmy Butler drama, the Heat spent most of the offseason consolidating their roster. They moved on from a handful of veterans — some more productive than others — and were able to swing a deal for Norman Powell, injecting some offense that the team didn’t receive from Terry Rozier last season. The Heat also re-signed Davion Mitchell, who had some outstanding moments down the stretch last year, and picked up a potential steal on draft day with Kasparas Jakucionis down at the No. 20 slot. It wasn’t a splashy offseason but the Heat trimmed the fat from their roster for the most part, and are hoping that a new team built around Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo can get them back on course.
