The Fourth of July fireworks are just starting to heat up, but there are already some explosive bats waiting on your waiver wire this holiday weekend. With several under-rostered Orioles swinging hot sticks and a potential top catching prospect on the same team lingering just below the surface, now is the time to reinforce your lineup for the stretch run. All players featured are rostered in under 60% of Yahoo leagues.
Gary Sánchez, C, Orioles (17% Yahoo)
Sánchez continues to mash while filling in for Adley Rutschman (oblique), driving in 22 runs over his first 25 games with Baltimore. Since returning from the injured list in mid-June, the veteran backstop is batting .370 with four home runs and 13 RBI in his last 10 contests. He has at least one hit in eight of those 10 games and reached a season-high with four RBI in the Orioles’ 22-run outburst on June 27. Sánchez is playing regularly and delivering high-end production at a thin position, making him a must-roster in all two-catcher formats and a viable short-term add in shallower leagues.
