Andre Drummond and the Cavs remain “far apart” in discussions regarding a long-term contract extension, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.

Drummond has a $28.7 million player option for the 2020-21 season which he is likely to exercise. Even though the Cavs see him as a long-term piece, the team is realistic about his flaws within today’s pace-and-space style game. It’s unclear if someone would be willing to throw this kind of money to Drummond in free agency this year so the Cavs may have to eventually trade him after he opts in.
