Key Storylines

New Role: Austin Reaves had a slow start to his season and was demoted to a bench role only a few games into the season. While at first glance this seemed like it was going to negatively impact Reaves’ value due to more limited minutes, it has been a blessing in disguise for his fantasy output. Reaves seems to have settled into his new role and over the past five games is averaging 15 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game in 30 minutes of action. It will be interesting to monitor how his role looks like when the Lakers are fully healthy but fantasy managers cannot complain about Reaves’ output since moving to the bench.

Capped Value: When the Sixers moved on from James Harden, they received a number of veteran wings in return, including Nicolas Batum, Robert Covington and Marcus Morris.
The expectation was that one of them would start, and that has been the case with Batum getting the starting nod. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, none of the three players have been able to distinguish themselves so far, and their fantasy value has been limited. While Batum is a solid option to stream in on low volume days, he does not offer any upside. Covington’s minutes are too limited for him to be considered a must-roster player in standard leagues despite his ability to generate defensive numbers. Fantasy managers should not hold in standard leagues and expect much to change here regarding these players moving forward.
