Welcome to the third to last edition of Streamer Tidd-Bits before we put a bow on the 2024 fantasy season. It is pretty wild when you stop to think about it. However, as I’ve mentioned in previous articles, I’m ready for the fantasy season to be over as I’ve been fighting to finish in the top three in a handful of leagues. Sure, I want to make sure the season ends when all of my teams that are in contention are sitting in a placing position, but the pressure that comes with every roster move increases with each lineup setting/FAAB period and I’m ready for that part of this great hobby that we enjoy to end. Before we get into a brief recap of our most recent round of recommendations to review, I want to remind you all that this week and the next we will only be recommending matchup-based adds. It is possible that a pitcher could be suggested if he has been pitching extremely well, but they will all be graded and treated as our traditional matchup-based recommendations.
First, we have to discuss our merit-based results from the week of 8/26 – 9/1. Unfortunately, both Cade Povich and Will Warren grade out as losses. Povich has been a victim of a difficult schedule, except for his brilliant start against the White Sox when he shut them out over seven-plus innings and struck out 10. His other starts against the Dodgers and Red Sox weren’t nearly as good, and are the reasons he’s a loss for us. Will Warren only made one start since we recommended him, and that is thanks to Luis Gil and Clarke Schmidt returning from the injured list. I was aware of both impending returns when I recommended Warren, but I liked the underlying skills I was seeing as well as his lone matchup where I thought he was worth a shot for that one start. He unfortunately struggled once more, but I think I’ll like him again as a draft-and-hold play next season when he’ll most definitely be less sought after. Our matchup-based results from 9/2 – 9/8 are a much different story. Although we went 1-1, Kyle Hendricks finally pitched well in a good matchup. The only thing is that he didn’t get six strikeouts, a win, nor a quality start. Our lone win this week was the Angels’ Samuel Aldegheri who held the Rangers to one run over six innings. In this start he struck out seven and earned the win so he was another instance of a starter reaching all three marks we look for when we grade our matchup-based recommendations. A fine note to end on if you ask me. With that said, here are the detailed results of our most recent recommendations, as well as our four matchup-based recommendations for the week of 9/16 – 9/22.
