Another night of basketball, another night of sneaky waiver wire targets. It was a fairly relaxed slate tonight in the NBA, but there were still some performances from sneaky waiver wire adds that we need to highlight. Below, we touch on players who could give your team great value in both standard leagues and deeper leagues. Even if the value can only last for a few games, that can still help you win your next matchup. Enjoy.
Standard Leagues
(<50% rostered on Yahoo)
Brandon Boston Jr., G/F, New Orleans Pelicans
Tonight’s game: 35 minutes, seven points (3-of-13 FG), seven rebounds, 10 assists, three steals, one triple
Brandon Boston Jr. has been a revelation for the Pelicans. For him to be as young as he is, Boston Jr. looks like a vet out there on the court. In the month of November, Broston Jr. is averaging 17.6 PTS, 3.6 REB, 3.6 AST, 1.2 STL and 1.8 3PT on 53.2% FG and 92.9% FT. The best part is that even with Trey Murphy III moving into the starting lineup, Boston still received huge minutes. He is a must-roster until more of the Pelicans’ starters return.
Yves Missi, C, New Orleans Pelicans
Tonight’s game: 30 minutes, 17 points (7-of-8 FG, 3-of-4 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block
Similar to Brandon Boston Jr., Missi fell into this opportunity due to the injuries. With Zion Williamson possibly out for 4-6 weeks, Missi will be needed for their lack of frontcourt depth. His minutes were strong in this game, and they seem to be prioritizing his development over the playing time of teammate Daniel Theis. The stat lines may not always be this pretty, but Missi is a great big man pickup just based on opportunity alone.
