• In this piece, I will be discussing some batters who intrigue me on the free agent market that are owned in less than 50% of 15-team leagues in The Great Fantasy Baseball Invitational (TGFBI). If you are in a 12-team league or just a home fantasy baseball league, these might be players to keep an eye on, but not necessarily add right now. In addition, I will suggest bid ranges for these players based on the projected impact that I see them bringing to your team.

This week we’ve got a couple of recent Twins call-ups, catchers, and outfielders who could help your squad!

Austin Wells, NYY C (50% owned in TGFBI)

Wells, 24, has been a solid backstop option in larger two catcher leagues this year. In his rookie campaign so far, Wells has hit .220 with four home runs and 22 RBI in 176 plate appearances, good for a .678 OPS and a 97 wRC+. I’m aware that these numbers are not overly impressive, but Wells has been about a league average hitter while playing catcher and his strong 12.5% walk rate shows that he is seeing the ball pretty well. Wells splits time pretty evenly with Jose Trevino, but has hit a home run in three of the past four weeks. If you need help at catcher in deeper leagues, Wells might be one of your best options.

    Verdict: Depth ($1-10)
