• Before we get into fantasy basketball, we have to talk about Jalen Williams. What happened Sunday night was absolutely brutal, and seeing him taken off the floor on a stretcher was gutting. Especially for a player who has already dealt with so much adversity over the past year. Watching his teammates react, particularly Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, was a reminder of how much these guys mean to each other and how quickly everything can change. It was encouraging to see Jalen give the crowd two thumbs up as he left the court, and hopefully the medical updates bring some positive news. For now, we’re all wishing him the very best and hoping he can make a full recovery.

Unfortunately, Williams wasn’t the only player to suffer a significant injury over the weekend. Jalen Suggs went down with a concerning knee injury, Ivica Zubac injured his ankle, Cason Wallace and Jaylin Williams also exited Sunday’s game, and Jalen Duren is expected to miss at least a couple of weeks with a hamstring strain. That’s an awful collection of developments this early in the season, and while our job here is to translate those situations into fantasy basketball decisions, the most important thing is that these players recover well.

From a fantasy perspective, there are obviously going to be opportunities created by these absences, but we also need to be careful about how we approach them. Not every additional minute translates into meaningful fantasy value, and some teams will redistribute responsibilities across several players rather than simply promoting one replacement into a massive role. That’s especially relevant in Oklahoma City, where the depth is impressive but the minutes distribution can be a nightmare for fantasy managers.

Tuesday brings us a much more manageable four-game slate, and it’s one of those days where streaming can make a significant difference. We also have some interesting developments from Sunday’s games, including Detroit continuing its strong start without Duren and Ausar Thompson, the Lakers looking increasingly dangerous behind Luka Donฤiฤ‡, and the Knicks somehow finding themselves winless after three games.

Here’s our Cheat Sheet for Monday’s slate, in case you missed it yesterday. Don’t forget to set those lineups!
