Pickups of the Day for August 5th

With the summer temperature soaring as we enter the first full week of August, the heat is on, as fantasy managers fight to find valuable contributors from the waiver wire. Though at times it may seem like there is no value to be had, if you look wide enough and deep enough, winning pieces can be found. Sticking to the summer heat, I found some valuable players in the Arizona desert and the high humidity of South Beach.

The later we get into the season, the more vital productive waiver wire finds become. Losing a player to injury can be even more difficult to replace, especially as fantasy league trade deadlines loom and the real life trade deadline has passed. Today I have two players who were affected by the trade deadline and find themselves in more productive roles than before, plus a Seattle outfielder whose production we can no longer ignore.

Pickups of the Day for August 3rd

Paul Williamson delivers Saturday's Pickups of the Day! He has two platoon bats that are lineup to face a lot of righties and one recently dealt pitcher about to sky rocket on his new club.

Pickups of the Day for July 29th

The big league trade deadline is this week and, in many fantasy leagues, is coming up in the next week or two as well. But, if you can't find yourself a willing trade partner, I am here to tell you that the waiver wire is always willing to trade it's value for your failing players. So let's take a look into that wonderful sea of available players and see if we can find a few that can help you along the way.

While most players might be rostered that needs to be rostered, that does not mean managers cannot find gold on the wire. Paul Williamson walks managers through three names that need to be on more rosters.

Pickups of the Day for July 26th

At this point of the season, we've seen enough of most players to get a firm idea of their abilities and to form concrete ideas about their fantasy value. Well, I'm here to tell you to throw everything you know out the window!

Pickups of the Day for July 25th

Three pickups for today, starting with a gut-feel recommendation of mine from a couple weeks ago, as well as a couple of high ceiling options really starting to heat up. And no, as much as I’d love to gloat about Lawrence Butler, I won’t be including him again. (Pick him up in all formats if you haven’t already)

Pickups of the Day for July 23rd

We're back to a regular schedule of full days on Tuesday and Wednesday on the diamond. As August nears, the waiver wire always gets thin, but injuries rarely slow so you need to find replacements somehow. This is also a point in the fantasy baseball season where managers start to lose interest as their team is struggling, so they may not be combing the wire looking for help, which provides opportunities for those of us who are still active.

Pickups of the Day for July 22nd

It's the first Monday after the All-Star break, the MLB trade deadline is less than ten days away and the second half of the season is moving at full throttle. That means it is time to start to really buckle down and spend some time on the waiver wire, to find some lesser owned players who could turn out to be second-half gold. I've got four names today that I hope all have a little bit of that gold on them.
