The Pistons have hired Troy Weaver as their new GM.

Weaver was previously the VP of Basketball Operations with the Thunder. Detroit liked Weaver's reputation as a strong identifier of talent and that is going to be critical for a team that has trouble attracting marquee free agents. Weaver's input reportedly played a large role in OKC's selection of Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Serge Ibaka in the past. Among Weaver's early decisions will be a possible new contract for Christian Wood, as well as whether the Pistons want to try and build around Blake Griffin or truly tear the team down to the studs to rebuild.
