Christian WoodPF, Detroit PistonsThe Rockets and Christian Wood are closing in on a three-year $27 million deal, Frank Isola of ESPN reports (via Twitter).
Certain projections had Wood fetching a significant amount more money on the open market than his reported deal with the Rockets. The Rockets famously traded away nearly all of their power forwards and centers last season at the deadline, embracing a true 'small ball' lineup under ex-coach Mike D'Antoni with James Harden and Russell Westbrook at the helm. With the franchise on the verge of a complete tear-down and D'Antoni gone, Wood is a logical building block choice as he showed lots of promise last season with the Pistons (13.1 PPG, 6.3 RPG). The Rockets would represent the fifth organization in five seasons for Wood.
