• HoopBall was originally created to fill a void in the basketball space where people mattered. Not industry forces, not corporate behemoths, but the content creators and the basketball community at large.

    We felt then as we feel now that something just isn’t right with the way things are currently setup at the top. The wrong priorities seem to get all the shine.

    Look at what we’ve elevated to the top of the discussion. If it’s not bad take artists on TV and their incorrigible networks, it’s the media’s constant sucking up to leagues, teams, sources and each other as they all fight for scraps.

    It’s … unfortunate.

    The ecosystem lacks innovation because in the top-heavy, platform-driven game of musical chairs the ‘haves’ are catering to leagues and rights holders. They aren’t particularly concerned with anything but macroeconomics.

    The details and value that breathe life into an industry aren’t important to mega-corporations, and while some venture capital money has emerged to try and disrupt the sports content world, a one punch takeover was never going to fix everything overnight.

    Independent sports media companies like ours are on the rise. We are not beholden to anybody other than the sports community we serve and are a part of. We grow because of the value we provide for those wanting coverage of every aspect of the game — fantasy, gaming and of course, the game itself. The TV contract doesn’t drive the operation. Company valuation for private equity calculations do not drive the operation.

    Talent and desire to get it right and the chance to stand for something more drive the operation.

    And that brings us to the next step in our evolution over here and that is SportsEthos.

    SportsEthos, for us, is recognition that the formula over here works and that we are ready to head into the sports community at large. So get ready for some football. Baseball? Yes, that’s on the roadmap too and from there we’re off to the races. Our roots will always be in basketball but we have big goals over here to change the way business gets conducted for everybody in the sports food chain.

    For you and everybody in the community it means more stuff. Better stuff. Something you feel good about being a part of.

    Our central question is our ethos.

    How are we getting better on a daily basis?

    Are we doing the work to be able to lead in the areas where we work?

    And finally, what do we stand for?

    We chose Ethos because we want to take delight in the journey of earning that credibility, and within that you’re going to see us deliver an industry changing model that serves everybody involved.
