Jets 12 @ Bills 20 (Jets covered, -10, U43.5)
Key Postgame Storylines
A gritty effort comes up short for the Jets who saw their starting quarterback leave the game twice with injury only to return and put his all on the field. Mike White showed heart but that doesn’t do much for us in fantasy as his 268 passing yards with no touchdowns makes for a disappointing day if you were forced to start him. Zonovan Knight was the guy for the Jets getting most of the carries, gaining 71 rushing yards with two receptions for six yards and a rushing touchdown. Michael Carter played the backup role, carrying five times for five yards with three receptions for 15 yards and a fumble lost. Garrett Wilson led all Jets receivers in receiving yards with 78 on six catches not sinking us in PPR leagues while Elijah Moore led Jets pass-catchers with 10 targets as he appears to be inching his way back onto our radars. Tyler Conklin caught five of his eight targets for 28 yards and can be a borderline PPR start in deeper leagues.
Buffalo tried to out-punt the Jets in the first half before finally getting into the endzone but they forced turnovers and field goals to gut out the victory against the New York and their tough defense. Josh Allen didn’t have his best day as he threw for just 147 yards and a touchdown, adding 47 yards on 10 carries and another touchdown on the ground. Even when Josh Allen has a rough day passing, his rushing can get it done as he still managed 20 fantasy points in the rough outing. The running backs weren’t really a factor for Buffalo as they got away from them early, allowing Allen to lead the team in rushing yards. Devin Singletary carried the ball just eight times for 39 yards, adding a single reception for four yards while popular waiver-wire add James Cook only had four carries for six yards and a catch for nine. Both backs will be tough to start next week against Miami as we would project the Bills to need to throw. With Buffalo mostly punting, fantasy stud Stefon Diggs didn’t get much action, catching just three passes for 37 yards on five targets and Gabe Davis catching three for 31. We should expect both receivers to get back on track next week against the Dolphins as their offense should force the Bills to pass more often. Dawson Knox led Bills pass-catchers with 41 receiving yards on four receptions and a touchdown as he will remain in the crowded top-12 range at tight end.
Top Performers
RB Zonovan Knight: Knight appears to have earned the role as starting running back for the Jets as he once again showed impressive running ability and Michael Carter fumbled in his return. Moving forward, Carter seems to be more of a drop while Knight will be a plug-and-play option against the Lions’ tough run defense.
TE Dawson Knox: Knox was Josh Allen’s top option as Allen had a hard time getting the ball to his receivers against a good Jets defense and we should understand that Knox has this kind of ceiling and he could be an option next week against Miami as it might be a high-scoring affair.
DST Buffalo Bills: The Buffalo defense got after it, earning four sacks and recovering two fumbles while allowing just 12 points. This unit has been widely started across fantasy leagues and that could continue next week against Miami who has slowed down a bit offensively.
Biggest Busts
RB Michael Carter: There were hopes that Carter would take over and be the main guy once Breece Hall went down due to injury, but it seems Zonovan Knight has stolen that role. Carter can’t be trusted moving forward.
WR Stefon Diggs: Diggs didn’t really have an opportunity to get much going with just five targets but that should change next week in a matchup where Josh Allen will have to be more pass happy and hope they have more success offensively.
