Buy/Sell: Week 15

  • Week 15, the first round of the fantasy playoffs in most leagues, is upon us! If you’re still reading fantasy content this late into the season, congrats — that probably means you’re playing for the real trophy and not in a consolation bracket. Hopefully you’re enjoying riding that high of playoff contention, so that will be the theme for this week’s Buy/Sell — the highs. You’re in a spot to decide whether to buy in or not on some players who could work their way into your playoff lineup based on recent momentum. Let’s get to it and good luck advancing!

    TE Chigoziem Okonkwo, Titans

There are bound to be a few playoff teams in every fantasy league that do not have a no-brainer starter at TE for the first round. So when a rookie like Okonkwo rattles off back-to-back top-10 weekly TE finishes leading into the playoffs and ranks atop the position with 15.2 yards per reception, it grabs your attention. “Okonk” may not be nearly as massive of a physical specimen as Gronk was, but he brings a pretty special element of speed at the position with a 4.52 forty time that was in the 96th percentile in his draft class (one that included Greg Dulcich, Trey McBride and Jelani Woods). Okonkwo is coming off an impressive TE2 finish in Week 14 with an increased role in the Titans passing game (ran a season-high 24 routes) because Treylon Burks (concussion) was out. In Week 13 when Burks was initially knocked out early with the head injury, Okonkwo had a TE10 finish. The last full game in which both Burks and Okonkwo played, the tight end only had a modest 3-35-0 line. Keep a very close eye on Burks and his concussion protocol clearance progress. If he fails to clear it, then Okonkwo is another strong low-end TE1 stream. Otherwise, he may not get enough volume to be worth the dice roll.
