Fantasy Football: Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 5

  • Pickups of the Week

    Raheem Mostert (RB) – Dolphins

The Dolphins backfield is becoming more clear after four weeks.  Mostert continues to get more touches and snaps, while Edmonds is working as the red zone specialist.  Edmonds only touched the ball seven times in Week 4, while Mostert handled the majority of rushes out of the backfield, scampering for 69 yards on 15 attempts. He is taking over the backfield and is becoming worthy of a weekly spot in starting lineups.

    Tyler Allgeier (RB) – Falcons

Cordarrelle Patterson has now been placed on IR and Allgeier should be set to take the lead of the Falcons backfield.  Allgeier split the touches with fellow rookie Caleb Huntley after the Patterson injury, each rushing the ball 10 times.  Allgeier produced 84 yards in comparison to the 56 for Huntley, but it was Huntley that scored a touchdown. The Falcons used a much higher draft pick on Allgeier and he has been involved since Week 2, whereas Huntley was called up from the practice squad for this game. Huntley was not involved in the passing game at all, while Allgeier was often running routes and had a 20-yard reception. With a tough matchup against the Bucs coming up and potential sharing the workload, Allgeier is worth a grab, but he is likely not a must-start option in Week 5. Damien Williams will return from his four-week stint on IR next week and could also take over the backfield when healthy.
