• It’s Tuesday and the NBA has gifted us an amazing seven game slate! Will Embiid be back today against the Mavericks, who just lost by 43 points to the Cavaliers? And the fully healthy Boston Celtics are playing in Cleveland in the game with the highest O/U of the slate – 237.5! We’ve also got the battle of LA, with the Clippers playing against the Lakers and both teams are sitting side by side in the standings! There’s still another four games to analyze, so let’s get started!

The Cavaliers and Celtics have played twice against each other this season. In the first matchup, the Celtics got the win at home on the back of Tatum’s 65 fpts performance, against Donovan Mitchell’s 50.5 fpts.. On their next game, the Celtics lost in Cleveland and Tatum still got 54 fpts, but he was eclipsed by Donovan Mitchell’s 55.75 fpts. Well, today’s game is in Cleveland and Donovan Mitchell ($8,600) also projects as a great option, as both he and Tatum were the only players on both teams who cleared 50 fpts in both games, cementing their floors. So why favour Tatum? He got 21 assists in his last two games and his playmaking upside could be heightened by Cleveland’s last 14 games stats, as they’re allowing the 7th most assists to opposing PFs. Tatum also got 20 boards in both games vs. Cleveland, and the Cavs are allowing the 3rd most boards to opposing PFs in their last 14 games. The assists + rebounds sets Tatum’s floor, and the Cavaliers allowing the 9th best 3pt% to opposing teams and Tatum’s high shot total over his past two games – 41 total attempts – helps solidify his ceiling. Oh, and Tatum is averaging an extra 3.7 fpts in away games, meanwhile Donovan Mitchell is averaging 4.8 fpts less in home games, tilting the scale further in Tatum’s favour. Going for the best player with a great statistical matchup and a history of producing in prior games against their opponent in the game with the highest O/U of the slate is a great strategy!
