MLB DFS Delivery for Tuesday, July 4th

  • Happy July 4th out there. Hope you’re having a great time grilling and chilling. We have what you’d consider a smaller slate for a regular Tuesday, but a bigger slate for what you’d consider primetime. Shohei Ohtani is pitching in this slate and the red hot Braves are in Cleveland, so they will be a popular play in this time slot, as they are in any time slot they’re in. The Dodgers are in this slate as well as are the Athletics and Tigers in what could actually be the highest scoring of all the eligible games.

This is for the 7/4 3:40 PM PST classic slate on Draftkings.

    DFS Pillar Plays

    Joe Musgrove

    Position: P

    Salary: $8,000

Musgrove had a much better June than he did May. He only gave up nine earned runs in six June starts, good for a 2.25 ERA. With all the high powered offenses going in this slot, I’d rather go a middle priced pitcher like Musgrove as my primary and hope to luck out on my secondary pitcher with someone like Allard or Sheehan. There’s too many good bats going at too high a price.

    Ozzie Albies

    Position: 2B

    Salary: $5,600

The switch-hitting Albies has been having a tremendous season, but doesn’t get the same accolades as Matt Olson or Ronald Acuna. Not his fault, those other guys are putting up historic numbers, but Albies is just as impactful and has been just as consistently productive. Albies is 10th in home runs with 20 and 5th in RBIs with 60 among all players. Shane Bieber has given up twice as many home runs to left-handed batters as right-handers this year, so I will be targeting Atlanta’s left-handers, where I can afford them.

    Spencer Torkelson

    Position: 1B

    Salary: $4,100

Spencer Torkelson is actually having a pretty decent year by the low standard of the Detroit Tigers. He ranks in the top 9% when it comes to average exit velocity and top 16th percentile in hard hit %, per Baseball Savant. Over the last ten games, Torkelson has nine hits for eight RBIs, with four of those going for home runs. The Tigers welcome Oakland and left-hander J.P. Sears, who has given up 10 HR in nine road starts this year.

    DFS Value Plays (<$3500 Salary)

    Brandon Belt

    Position: 1B/OF

    Salary: $3,000

The veteran Belt hit two home runs in his last game. He has been more important to this Toronto team than maybe Blue Jays fans were anticipating. Belt actually ranks first among all hitters in Sweet Spot %, sitting at 48.5%. Lucas Giolito starts for the White Sox, and he has been inconsistent.

    David Peralta

    Position: OF

    Salary: $3,400

Peralta has had maybe the best stretch of his Dodger career over the last 10 games. He has 13 hits and six runs scored over that stretch. Maybe the guys in front of him can help him out tonight by getting on base and give him the opportunity to get an RBI or two. The Dodgers offense has been sputtering along of late, but Peralta has at least been able to put the ball in play.
