• We have a huge slate tonight with 15 games eligible for selection. The game with the highest run total, by some margin, is the first game of the Dodgers’ series in Colorado. The temperature should be hovering around the high 80s at Coors, which will help those fly balls turn into home runs. There is a storm front making its way through the Northeastern US, although it seems that yesterday’s games got the brunt of it.

In injury news, Jazz Chisholm is making his return to the Marlins’ lineup after over a month on the IL. Yu Darvish was scratched from his start due to illness. Reiss Knehr will start in his place. This comes after a report came out that the Padres’ clubhouse was having some chemistry issues.

This is for the 6/27 4:05 PM PST classic slate on Draftkings.

    Writer’s Record

    32-21-1

Washington Nationals @ Seattle Mariners o8.0 Runs (-120)

The Mariners have been red hot of late, scoring the most runs out of any team over the last week with 40 runs in seven games. Jake Irvin will be starting for the Nationals against rookie Bryan Woo.

    DFS Pillar Plays

    Ranger Suarez

    Position: P

    Salary: $7,000

With the giant slate tonight, it is going to be important to either nail a higher-priced pitcher selection or go with some value guys to get as many big bats as you can. I am electing to go with Ranger Suarez as one of my pitchers as he has been fairly solid lately. Suarez has had an excellent June so far averaging about a strikeout per inning and going over six innings in his last five starts. The Phillies travel to Chicago and it seems like conditions will not be favorable towards hitters. The Cubs are just coming back from London, so I’m expecting a bit of an adjustment period.

    Josh Naylor

    Position: 1B

    Salary: $3,900

This is a great price for someone who has been hitting the ball well lately. The Guardians are in a favorable matchup in Kansas City with Brady Singer starting, who has a 5.84 home ERA. Over the last two weeks, Naylor has gotten 17 hits in 12 games. Naylor homered in his last game, which came on Sunday, and he has been all smiles since his little brother Bo has been called up to the major league squad.

    Mookie Betts

    Position: OF/SS

    Salary: $6,400

Mookie was in a bit of a mini-slump, but broke out of it in a big way in the Dodgers’ three game series against the Houston Astros. He should have hit a home run in all three games, but had one robbed by Corey Julks in left field. He had to settle for two out of three games with a homer. As I mentioned up top, the Dodgers will be in Coors tonight and that is evidenced by how expensive some of these Dodger bats are. Mookie is the most expensive, but that’s because he has the highest potential for points. Mookie is a very short +240 to hit a home run.

    DFS Value Plays (<$3300 Salary)

    Ezequiel Duran

    Position: OF

    Salary: $2,900

The Rangers are at home in the second game of this series against Detroit. Matt Manning is going to be starting for the Tigers in his first game action since April. I will be trying to fit as many Texas bats as I can in my lineup, with an emphasis on the cheaper ones such as Duran, Taveras and Jonah Heim.

    Aaron Hicks

    Position: OF

    Salary: $2,400

Aaron Hicks has been a different player for the Orioles than he was with the Yankees. He’s hitting a full .100 points better when it comes to batting average with .284 in Baltimore compared to .188 when he was with New York. Hicks has 36 total bases in just 22 games and is confirmed to be hitting fifth in Baltimore’s lineup tonight against rookie Reds pitcher, Andrew Abbott.

    Jack Suwinski

    Position: OF

    Salary: $3,300

Reiss Knehr is probably going to be in for a rude awakening tonight at PNC Park. The Pirates haven’t been scoring that many runs but they should be able to put some on the board against the 26-year-old Knehr. Jack Suwinski has all 15 of his home runs against right handed pitchers, of which Reiss Knehr is one.
