Paul’s Fantasy Baseball FAAB Recommendations – Week 10

  • 12-TEAM LEAGUES (FANTRAX ROSTER%)

Honorable mentions – I will discuss the players rostered between 50-60% as some of these player’s roster% may have gone up over the week due to daily change leagues but could still be there for you FAAB runs.

P – Jared Jones – PIT – 84% – This is for those NFBC leagues that just now get a chance to add Jones to their rosters and he is just 45% rostered on Yahoo anyways. In his first start back, he was a lot better than his line suggests. First he threw multiple pitches 100 MPH+, including two 101+. Next he got 15 whiffs, good for a 37% whiff rate. Most importantly, he threw strikes with a 69% strike rate, earning 60%+ on all four pitches of his arsenal. Unfortunately, he is tentatively lined up to face the Astros then the Dodgers but he should still be on rosters as his upside is undeniable. BID – 15-25%

OF – Ryan Waldschmidt – ARI – 74% – I will mention Waldschmidt here as Fantrax roster% for young players is way higher than others due to the amount of dynasty leagues. But Waldschmidt is at 28% rostered on Yahoo and that needs to go up. Yeah, the 30% K% isn’t ideal, but he has a more than respectable 11.7% SwStr% as he is a selective swinger that doesn’t chase. He already has five steals with a .294 average. BID – 4-8%

OF – Jung Hoo Lee – SFG – 65% – His roster% went down while he was on the IL and I think that’s a mistake. He showed off why in his return game with a 4-for-5 game with two runs scored and a double. He continues to have an elite hit tool but the big thing here is he is starting to keep the ball out of the dirt with an improved ground ball rate of 44.2% and a nice 23.9% line drive rate. When it comes to hitters like Lee who just don’t impact the ball at all, getting those line drives is critical to maintain a good average. He spent most of the year batting at the top of a Giant lineup that is finally showing signs of life with guys like Willy Adames and Rafael Devers turning in solid Mays to go with the emergent Casey Schmitt. BID – 4-8%

1B, OF – Luke Raley – SEA – 62% – There are very few platoon bats that get to be so damn productive that you need to roster them, even in weekly change formats. Raley has officially entered that territory with his eighth homer in the month of May. He now has 13 homers with a .313 ISO and a slash of .279/.338/.592. He is able to overcome his high K% of 32.9% with a elite 21.1% barrel rate and 50.5% hard-hit rate. He is likely going to be more productive in four games per week than a lot outfield options playing six. BID – 3-8%

SS – Ezequiel Tovar – COL – 60% – We are seeing signs of life from the former top prospect. Over his last 58 plate appearances he has three homers, a .250 ISO and a slash of .273/.340/.523 as he got his K% down to 18.0%. His bat speed has increased to 73.0 MPH with a 36% fast swing rate. Could we finally be seeing the breakout of Tovar? BID – 2-6%
