The first weekend of the 2025 season is in the books, and we’re already seeing some unexpected breakouts and early injury replacements creating opportunities. Whether your roster took a hit or you’re just looking to get ahead of the curve, now’s the time to pounce on under-rostered talent.

Lars Nootbaar – STL – OF – 44% rostered (Yahoo)

Nootbaar has been on a tear since returning to the Cardinals lineup, going 8-for-20 with two home runs, five runs scored, and five RBI through his first five games. He’s batting leadoff and has drawn four walks with just one strikeout in 19 plate appearances, an especially encouraging sign for OBP and points leagues.

With a trip to hitter-friendly Fenway Park on tap this weekend, Nootbaar makes for a strong short-term add and could hold long-term value if he continues to lead off. He’s worth picking up in all 12-team leagues and even 10-teamers that reward OBP or runs.
