Pickups of the Day for July 10th

  • The All-Star break looms and now is the time where fantasy leagues are won and lost on the waiver wire. We have three potential difference makers for you in today’s Daily Pickups:

    Rece Hinds – OF – CIN – 20% Yahoo, 27% Fantrax

Rece Hinds is making a historic entrance into the majors. In his first two games, he went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, a home run, and two RBI in Tuesday’s 12-6 win over Colorado, becoming the first player since 1901 to record five extra-base hits in his first two games. Despite his incredible start, Hinds has struggled in Triple-A Louisville this season, slashing .219/.293/.409 with a 38.3% strikeout rate in 78 games. This suggests his hot streak might not last. However, he has demonstrated power and speed potential with 13 home runs and 12 stolen bases this season, making him a valuable pickup, especially in deeper leagues of 12 or more teams or those looking for the short-term boost of a hot streak. With the Reds dealing with outfield injuries, Hinds should see regular playing time, at least in the short term. His combination of power and speed, albeit with a high strikeout risk, makes him a speculative add in most formats, particularly for those needing outfield help or a boost in power and speed categories.
