Hi everyone! The DFS Pass is officially under way, though today’s article is a free preview of what’s to come. As we hit the regular season you’ll see more names in the game-by-game portion of the proceedings, and you’ll also see this information split between our Layup Line and DFS Delivery. Orlando Magic @ Atlanta Hawks:

One of the big storylines coming into this season will be the added focus on player health, putting a premium on minutes played. Orlando is a team chock full of veterans that will likely ease into the preseason after the bubble run. We can expect minutes going to many young guys in today’s DFS slate. Atlanta has a bunch of new players they are trying to incorporate into the fold after a very busy off-season, from a DFS perspective use this game to start tracking playing time splits between their crowded wings.

New York Knicks @ Detroit Pistons:

New York is coming into this season, well rested after not earning an invite to the bubble this year. The buzz will be around their top 10 rookie in Obi Toppin, as well as development of some of their young core, a team that will be worth monitoring to identify the players most likely to earn starting positions. On the Detroit side, I would look at their new starting PG and European import in the form of Killian Hayes, they will be a team that should be enticing from a DFS perspective all season long with their combo of vets and young players.

Houston Rockets @ Chicago Bulls:

What a difference an off-season makes for Houston. They went from the prototypical small ball team, to now having two legitimate centers when healthy in the frontcourt. Last but not least the entire James Harden saga unfolding day by day. For tonight I am looking at some of their younger players to see how they will perform along with their prize addition in Christian Wood. On the chicago side we will be watching the minute distribution closely between their young frontcourt and some of their cheaper back-court players.

LA Clippers @ LA Lakers:

Battle of LA will feature one team in the Clippers who is coming off a disappointing finish to the season, as well as a loss of their 6th man of the year Harrell to their building neighbor Lakers. For tonight’s slate I love the young pieces in the back court including Terrance Mann and the new addition Luke Kennard to really step up. For the Lakers it will be interesting to see with the superstars resting who will get some minutes.

Sacramento Kings @ Portland Trail Blazers:

Sacramento has another rookie sensation who should see some heavy playing time, and we can count on their young all-star mate Fox to also play well and be the focal point of the offense. On the Portland side, I fully expect their young pieces including Simons and Trent Jr. to really step up with many guys on minute restrictions or out all together.
