Gordon Hayward

There is "significant optimism" that Gordon Hayward (right ankle sprain) will be available to play in Saturday's Game 3, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

Hayward has been out since suffering a Grade 3 right ankle sprain on August 17. Interestingly, though perhaps not surprisingly, Woj adds that Hayward's return will give a boost to Boston's bench. While he is usually a starter, the Celtics figure to ease Hayward back into action — at least to the extent that's possible in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Boston will take any help it can get after their Game 2 loss led to a postgame altercation between Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown, and the team's season is very much on the line today.
