LeBron JamesSF, Los Angeles LakersESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the NBA will allow teams in areas with eased stay-at-home restrictions to start opening up their practice facilities come May 1.
This is the first real sign of progress for the NBA's season possibly resuming, though there is still a very long way to go. A team like the Hawks, for example, would be able to let players start working out, whereas a team like the Knicks would still be on ice. Woj adds that the league definitely does not want players traveling to work out at non-team facilities as safety remains a top priority. Group workouts are also still off the table. There's still many hurdles to be cleared but getting players back into gyms is the first step of a long process. It's been said that the league would want at least a month of ramp-up period, and there's still no firm timetable for basketball's return.
