Fun Facts for the season
-The future is bright in New Orleans as their top five leaders in minutes per game are all under 30 years of age: Jrue Holiday (34.9 mpg, age 29), Brandon Ingram (34.3 mpg, age 22), Lonzo Ball (32.4 mpg, age 22), Zion Williamson (29.7 mpg, age 19) and Josh Hart (27.4 mpg, age 24)
-Although several players benefited after getting traded from the Lakers to the Pelicans in the Anthony Davis trade, no player capitalized on the increased opportunity more than Brandon Ingram as he averaged career-highs in minutes, 3-pointers made, free throws made, free throw percentage, rebounds, assists and steals on his way to producing 2nd/3rd round per-game value. His previous career-high in per-game fantasy value came in the 2017-18 campaign when he produced 11th/15th round per-game value.
-Jaxson Hayes was viewed as a project when the Pelicans drafted him in 2019 but he has already been able to produce short-term value for fantasy GMs when he got a boost in playing time (25.3 mpg) when the team was without Derrick Favors. Favors missed 14 games from November 16 through December 11th and Hayes produced 9th/9th round per-game value during that timeframe.
-Zion Williamson’s season didn’t get started until late January as a result of a preseason injury but he was able to prove why he deserved to be the number one pick in the 2019 draft as he was the only rookie to be in the top-10 in averages for points, rebounds, assists, minutes and steals among all rookies
-Zion struggled from the free throw line in the 19 games he suited up for in his rookie season as he shot .645 from the stripe on eight attempts per game, and his fantasy value reflected that as he produced 4th/4th round per-game value with a “punt free throw percentage build” compared with 9th/13th round per-game value
-Lonzo Ball struggled to start the season as he was hampered by a couple injuries that affected his fantasy value as he produced 9th/12th round per-game value prior to December 1st while he was able to produce 4th/6th round per-game value from December on
