Today, we’ll be presenting three shallow-league adds in:a returning Jurickson Profar, a surging Trevor Story and an emerging Edward Cabrera. Plus, because deep leagues are so near and dear to our hearts, we’ll also be discussing a cheap source of power at the catcher position, in Victor Caratini. So with that being said, let’s not dawdle. Let’s get into it!
Jurickson Profar – OF – ATL – 55% Yahoo
Newsflash: Profar’s roster percentage is still far too low in fantasy baseball leagues. Granted, the outfielder’s addition to rosters at this point would be more of a speculative move, as he is currently slashing a mere .250/.270/.417 in his first season in Atlanta. Of course, Profar has been out for most of the season, just recently making his return from an 80-game suspension for performance enhancing drugs on July 2. So, welcome to Small Sample Size Theater, as we continue to bear in mind that the veteran is coming off a breakout 2024, in which he slashed .280/.380/.459 with 24 homers, 94 runs scored, 85 RBI and 10 steals. Under the hood, Profar looked good last year, too. He had a .179 ISO, 91.1 average exit velocity, career-high 44.2% hard hit rate, a decent 11.4 walk rate with only a 15.1% strikeout rate and was worth 4.3 fWAR. Add him now in shallow leagues in the hopes that last year’s breakout campaign was no fluke.
