Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups

By Patrick Leary Published September 10, 2024 1 min read

I’m going to be honest. I’m still catching my breath after that whirlwind of a Week 1. We got incredible primetime games and a jam-packed set of morning and afternoon windows, and I had forgotten just how overwhelming that much exciting football was.

Across the 16 games, a ton of players defied preseason expectations and posted impressive performances that fantasy football managers didn’t anticipate when drafting their teams over the past month. Independent of individual context, the waiver run before Week 2 is typically the MOST important of the season, so isolating potential impact performers for the rest of the fantasy season is critical over the next 48 hours.

One note before we dive into the waiver wire: I’m primarily going to discuss players with below 50% ownership on Yahoo, with possible exceptions if the number is very close.  There will be a section for players closer to 75-80% owned later in the article, which will include names to make sure aren’t owned in your league, but those names likely won’t be available in most cases.
