Week 2 Fantasy Football Injury Roundup

Quarterback

Michael Penix Jr. – Falcons – (knee) – The Falcons announced that Michael Penix Jr. will start on Thursday night against the Packers. Penix will hold low end QB2 value for that game but Drake London’s value vaults right back up into high end WR2/Low End WR1 territory with this news. With Cooper Rush, London had only seen five targets in each of the first two games. With Penix, London saw only fewer than eight targets just once.

Sam Darnold – Seahawks – (hip) – Darnold is set to practice this week and has a chance to play in Week 3. If Darnold can go, depending on who else managers have, he could be a sneaky good stream play against a Commanders team that’s given up at least 24 points in each of their first two games, and that were absolutely torched by Darnold last year.

Jayden Daniels – Commanders – (elbow) – Daniels dislocated his left elbow on Sunday and will miss at least the next two to three weeks. Marcus Mariota will take over as the starter. He is a good stash to have in case of further quarterback injuries but is a must sit this weekend going against a Seahawks defense that is playing at the same elite level it was last season so far in 2026.

Caleb Williams – Bears – (hamstring) – Williams suffered a hamstring injury in the second half of the Bears’ loss to the Vikings. Despite being carted off the field he is considered week to week at this point but has a chance to play on Monday night. Tyson Bagent is the Bears #2 quarterback and he is currently in concussion protocol. If neither can go it’ll be long time veteran Case Keenum getting the start against a tough Eagles defense on Monday night. Keenum is not someone that can be started, and managers may want to look for other options outside of Rome Odunze and Luther Burden at wide receiver. One player who could benefit is Colston Loveland. Backup quarterbacks do tend to lean towards pass catching tight ends a little bit more so this may be something that could get him going.

Jaxson Dart – Giants- (knee) – Dart injured his knee on the first series of the game in the Giant’s Week 2 loss to the Rams. Initial tests had given the Giants hope that he only had a sprained MCL and could be out 4-6 weeks. Today there’s been breaking news that the injury is worse than initially thought and Dart could be out for the remainder of the season. Jameis Winston takes over in the interim and he struggled mightily last night. He completed fewer than 50 percent of his passes. This could impact Malik Nabers but a guy who could see a bump is Darnell Mooney, who Winston connected on a couple of 20+ yard pass plays with. Isaiah Likely’s status is not yet impacted as he led the team in targets last night.
