Key Storylines

Buying time – D’Angelo Russell has given the Lakers’ front office the luxury of time. His recent explosion on the offensive end has given what the Lakers had been looking for on the trade market, a spark on the offensive end as the Lakers had been stagnant and lackluster. However, this Lakers team might have gotten a wake up in last night’s loss to Houston. They are just 5-4 over the nine games Russell has been the starter and providing said spark. The Lakers get an up-close look at one of their rumored targets, Dejounte Murray (if he plays), tonight.

Speaking of Murray – Will the Hawks even move him? From the outside looking in, it seems like the Murray-Trae Young duo is not a winning one as they are disappointing this season. They do not have draft assets after acquiring Murray and they have long-term money tied up in multiple players. If they are going to improve,they need to get value from somewhere. Murray is the most likely asset to move the needle but reports by Marc Stein say head coach Quin Snyder is pushing for Murray to stay. Snyder was a hot commodity when they hired him so he may have more say in personnel decisions than most coaches. Stay Tuned.
