Key Storylines

– Young Talent: The Houston Rockets have done a very solid job with their draft selections over the past few seasons. Noteworthy selections include Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason. This year’s selections, Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore,  have also started to showcase their potential over the past few weeks. Both players have seen their playing time increase due to injuries, and have shown the ability to fill up the box score in limited minutes. Whitmore has been quite impressive, ranking inside the top 165 in 9-cat leagues over the past two weeks in just 18 minutes per game. Whitmore has been worth streaming in deeper formats, and should the Rockets fall out of the race for a play-in spot late in the season, he will be someone to monitor in standard formats. 

– Slow Ramp-Up: De’Anthony Melton missed three games earlier this month due to a nagging back injury. He has only averaged 23 minutes in the two games since returning and has not looked 100% yet. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on how Melton looks on Monday, and if his minutes creep back up closer to his season average of 29 minutes per game. Melton should be held through his struggles in standard formats.
