QB Sleepers to Target

  • The QB position for fantasy has always fluctuated between being overrated or oversaturated as most fantasy teams have 10-12 teams and there are 32 starting QBs in the NFL. It would be easy to call this the golden era of QBs as a savvy fantasy GM could just stream QBs based on quality matchups and keep pace with most teams if they aren’t starting Jalen Hurts or Josh Allen.  As great as it feels to have one of the true elite QBs on your fantasy team, if you spent draft capital on Patrick Mahomes (QB7) or Joe Burrow (QB25*), you spend most of the season frustrated and underwhelmed.  Joe Flacco, Dak Prescott, Jordan Love, Kirk Cousins, Brock Purdy and C.J Stroud all finished in the top-10 for fantasy points-per-game and outside of Prescott, almost all were potentially available for Week 1 at little to no cost.   If you can nail your QB at the end of the draft, it makes the rest of your team exponentially more dangerous.  So here is a list of QBs to target near the end of your draft with upside to potentially be your QB1 by the end of season.

    Sam Howell, Seattle Seahawks

Howell started 17 games for Washington last season, throwing for 3,946 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions.  He was miraculously leading the league in passing yards through 10 weeks.  That is not a typo.  He did this with a mediocre receiving core and an abomination of an offensive line.   As of right now, Howell is the backup in Seattle, but Geno Smith finished as the QB19 and only has one good season under his belt.  The Seahawks are a ready-made offensive system that is primed to explode under the right circumstances.  Howell might not start as a viable option for fantasy, but he’s a great lottery ticket to stash on your bench and could have his number called sooner rather than later.  Jaxon Smith-Njigba is primed to explode and next to DK Metcalf they could be as deadly combination of speed and strength.  Howell might be the real deal or he could just be a cog in a turn-key offense, but either way this offense just needs an arm and Howell certainly has one of those.
