Fantasy Basketball Draft Guide 2025: Washington Wizards Team Preview

By Mike Passador Published August 26, 2025 Updated August 25, 2026 2 min read

How’d We Get Here?

The Wizards are deep into another rebuild. While they shed a good number of veterans over the offseason, they also dealt a top trade chip in Jordan Poole for the expiring contract of CJ McCollum. The Cam Whitmore pickup could pay off down the line but the Wizards still have quite a few vets taking up rotation spots, even if there will be some hand-waving to get them out of the picture in the second half of the season. This one is going to take a while as the Wizards cycle through established NBA players to provide respectable infrastructure for their prospects, but it will be a bit of a mess with so many players fighting for finite playing time. Alex Sarr, Bub Carrington and Kyshawn George all looked good in their rookie seasons so it’s not as if the Wizards are starting from scratch, but there are a lot of moving parts with most of the roster still trying to find their lane in the league. There are no questions about where this project is heading, at least.
