How’d We Get Here?
The Bucks flamed out in the first round again. Damian Lillard made a valiant comeback from deep vein thrombosis, only to suffer a devastating Achilles tear in the playoffs that had major implications for Milwaukee’s future. The Bucks admitted defeat on their Lillard era, deciding to waive-and-stretch the aging superstar and start fresh. It immediately opened the team up to major questions about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the franchise but after some rumor mongering he settled on seeing this through. The Bucks had to go back to the drawing board while working around Lillard’s dead money, and they chose to let Brook Lopez walk, re-sign most of their free agents and spend up to steal Myles Turner away from a division rival. It’s a weird roster on paper and the stakes have never been higher with questions about Antetokounmpo’s future now out in the open.
