Fantasy Basketball Draft Guide 2025: Schedule Analysis

By André Lemos Published October 16, 2025 Updated August 25, 2026 2 min read

As we roll into the 2025–26 NBA season, it’s time to do what separates the good fantasy managers from the title contenders: weaponize the schedule. Every year, the NBA calendar hides edges, five-game weeks, sneaky rest traps and those glorious playoff slates that make or break leagues.

This isn’t just about who you draft. It’s about when they play.

Why Schedule Analysis Wins Leagues

Fantasy basketball is a numbers game. Six of the nine standard categories are counting stats. You can’t rack up rebounds, assists, or threes from the bench. More games mean more chances to produce.

So when you’re splitting hairs between two players, say, Jalen Suggs and Deni Avdija, always check the calendar. If one plays four times and the other twice, the “lesser” name might quietly double your production. It’s basic arithmetic and it wins matchups.

The Unicorn: Five-Game Weeks

They’re rare. They’re beautiful. And they can swing an entire week.

Only a handful of teams hit the five-game jackpot in 2025–26:

  • Los Angeles Lakers: January 12-18
  • Miami Heat: January 19–25
  • Philadelphia 76ers: March 9-15
  • Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards: March 16-22

The catch? Load management. Don’t assume Paul George or Joel Embiid are grinding through all five. But for role players, these are plug-and-play goldmines.

Pro Tip: Stream fringe players from these teams the Sunday before those weeks. It’s an easy games played advantage before your opponent even checks waivers.

From the cliffs of Porto Moniz to the forests of Latvia. With a degree in business and a background in finance, I traded balance sheets for projection models, following a lifelong love of the game. I’ve played it, I’ve lived it and I’ve had the privilege of working inside team front offices at both the club and national level.

For over 20 years, I’ve also been immersed in the world of Fantasy Basketball, studying trends, finding edges and living the grind season after season. That passion has brought me here, to SportsEthos, where I’m honored to be part of our management team alongside the great Aaron Bruski. My mission is simple: help SportsEthos thrive as the premier home for Fantasy Sports and sports coverage. A place where users get real value and where every member of the team can sharpen their craft, find joy in the work and build something special that feels like home.
