WR Tiers
*updated 8/31/2024 at 6:57pm*
The wide receiver position is as important as it’s ever been in fantasy football, especially if you play in any sort of points per reception (PPR) league. There’s also a plethora of talent across the league at the position. I’m here to help you sift through the madness of the position by ranking them, along with designation tiers. Now tier based drafting is something I highly recommend. It allows you to see the talent as a group rather than individual players to make the best decisions on when to pounce, and when you know you can wait a bit longer. Within each tier, rankings are pretty subjectively and arguments can be made to move some players up or down slightly.
Tier 1
1. Ceedee Lamb
2. Amon-Ra St. Brown
3. Tyreek Hill
Cream of the crop. I’m expecting Dallas to lead the league in passing and Lamb is far and away the best player on the team, look out for 175+ targets again… ARSB is the alpha on a really good Lions offense who added absolutely no competition, meaning he’ll continue to have the role and volume to make a strong case for the top spot at the end of the season.. Hill is as explosive as they come and the focal point of the offense, another elite season incoming.
Tier 2
4. Ja’Marr Chase
5. Garrett Wilson
6. Justin Jefferson
7. AJ Brown
Splitting hairs not having Chase in tier 1, but we’ve gotta draw a line somewhere.. Wilson is set to explode (again) should Rodgers stay healthy (big IF), but Tyrod Taylor is no slouch and can get the ball to his guys.. JJ might be a bit too low also, but the rookie QB is enough to bump him down a tier.. AJB is a big play machine. He’s going to get his, but this offense should focus on running more with the new Giant addition to the backfield.

Tier 5
25. Zay Flowers
26. Stefon Diggs
27. Tank Dell
28. Calvin Ridley
29. DeAndre Hopkins
30. Keenan Allen
31. Terry McLaurin
32. Jayden Reed
33. Malik Nabers
34. Hollywood Brown
35. Jaxon Smith-Njigba
36. Diontae Johnson
Flowers remains a top dog at the position in the Ravens offense after they fail to meaningfully address the WR position this offseason. Look for him to take the next step as the Ravens offense continues to evolve under second year OC Todd Monken.. Hollywood becomes the WR1 for Patrick Mahomes in a flurry of moves the Chiefs made tp upgrade the position. I’m expecting Mahomes and HC Andy Reid to want to air the rock out after not being able to do so much last season.. Calvin Ridley is another WR who’s proven to still be able to produce, and could challenge DHop for the WR1 in Tennessee.. Hopkins may not be the perennial top 5 WR we once knew, but he’s still got it. Levis remains a question mark, but DHop has been QB proof his entire career.. Keenan Allen is a dawg, but a new team, offense, and other legit WR’s might hinder the consistency we’ve grown to love.. McLaurin has always been talented, but his QB hasn’t matched that, until now.. Jayden Reed took off at the end of 2023 and should get the opportunity to continue the trend, though there’s quite a bit of talent up in Green Bay with only one football to go around.. Nabers has a wide range of outcomes. He’s got 120 target upside, but the offense around him is going to make things tough for him to show all that he can do in year 1.. Though Dell certainly performed higher than this ranking suggests, we can’t ignore the acquisition of Stefon Diggs, and he wasn’t brought in to be the WR3 behind Collins also.. While I expect bigger things from JSN as he takes the next step, we can’t ignore the target competition and legitimate run game Seattle has.. Diontae Johnson was a target hog in PIT, but may not be so lucky in CAR with the expectation of a “stubborn” running game under new HC Dave Canales (his wording, not mine)..
Tier 6
37. Chris Godwin
38. Brandin Cooks
39. Jordan Addison
40. Curtis Samuel
41. George Pickens
42. Rashee Rice
43. Courtland Sutton
44. Christian Watson
45. Jakobi Meyers
46. Brian Thomas
47. Adonai Mitchell
48. Josh Palmer
49. Ladd McConkey
50. Rome Odunze
51. Mike Williams
52. Darnell Mooney
53. Michael Wilson
Godwin’s value feels like it’s stagnated a bit over the past couple of years, but that’s not due to talent. A move back to the slot, as has been suggested early this offseason, may due his fantasy value some good.. I see Dallas leading the league in pass attempts, and Cooks is going to play a major part in that.. Addison becomes hindered by the presence of a rookie QB and journeyman Sam Darnold, either of which will likely funnel targets to Jefferson. Still Addison is the clear second option and should hold value.. Curtis Samuel is my sleeper pick this season with an outside shot at leading the Bills in targets.. Pickens is the new WR1 in the Steel City, but that comes in an Arthur Smith offense who would run the ball 60 times a game if given the chance.. Rice is most likely facing a suspension at some point during the season, and with several additions to the passing game, he likely won’t have the same opportunities he did late last season.. Sutton finally got the touchdown volume we’ve been hoping for, however that amounted to WR35, and with rookie first rounder Bo Nix at the helm, it may be a struggle once again.. Watson was once looked at as the future WR1, but a mixture of health and the emergence of Jayden Reed have that in question. He’s never been a volume play, but more of a big play type of option. This doesn’t bode well for a player who’s oft injured.. Meyers is stuck in a middling offense that added stud tight end Brock Bowers to be the number two target for a journeyman veteran.. Thomas has a chance to be the number one target for Jacksonville, though it’s unlikely in year 1.. Mitchell should fit into Indy as a complementary piece to Pittman and the run game.. Palmer has a sneaky high ceiling as he should at least start the year as Herbert’s WR1. McConkey is going to be in the mix as a top target for Herbert as well. It’s a shame they seem set up to run the ball 40x a game.. Odunze has the talent to make an immediate impact, but he’s behind two high end vets, plus some other good pass catching options. He just needs an opportunity and his value should skyrocket.. Williams will try and remain healthy, and if he does, he should have a clear role for the Jets.. Mooney was sneaky good with Chicago, now he gets a QB upgrade and a role as the WR2 that should fit him better than his top dog status for the Bears.. Big fan of Michael Wilson. He showed flashes last year and should improve with a full season of Kyler Murray under center. Wilson is another sleeper to watch out for.
Tier 7
54. Xavier Worthy
55. Jameson Williams
56. Josh Downs
57. Adam Thielen
58. Wan’Dale Robinson
59. Romeo Doubs
60. Jahan Dotson
61. Jerry Jeudy
62. Gabe Davis
63. Rashid Shaheed
64. Demario Douglas
65. Ja’Lynn Polk
I like Worthy better in best ball than season long. He’ll have spike games but going to be tough to predict.. although Williams hasn’t shown much in the NFL so far, the Lions still seem to have strong belief in him.. Downs should settle in at the WR3 for Indy. He’s got the talent, but may not have the opportunities..Thielen was better than expected last season, let’s see if he has anything left in the tank.. Wan’Dale has shown flashes, but hasn’t been able to put it all together. Maybe this is the year but the Giants offense is looking tough to trust.. Doubs is going to be in the mix for an improved Green Bay offense, just not sure how much.. Can Dotson finally live up to the first round billing with a new QB?. Same but for Jerry Jeudy? Both are positioned as the WR2 on their respective teams.. We know what Gabe Davis is at this point, all or nothing and good luck figuring out the “all” weeks.. Shaheed is a fun dart throw option, as he’s always a threat for a big play. May be better for best ball.. Douglas has some useful weeks last season. In a revamped offense with a rookie QB and some young WR competition, it might be a tough year all around for New England’s passing offense. This will also affect Polk, who was just drafted a to presumably be the WR1 for Drake Maye.
Tier 8
66. Dontayvion Wicks
67. Ricky Pearsall
68. Jermaine Burton
69. Tyler Boyd
70. Darius Slayton
71. Xavier Legette
72. Luke McCaffrey
73. Troy Franklin
74. Zay Jones
75. Javon Baker
76. Malachi Corley
77. Jalin Hyatt
78. Demarcus Robinson
79. Roman Wilson
80. Jordan Whittingham
81. Kalif Raymond
This tier is also known as “the rest.” This is mixture of young guys trying to make their mark and veterans trying to stick in whatever role they can. There’s not a lot to say at this point, there’s more risk than reward baked into these guys. Pick your poison at the end of your drafts, but I have a few favorites. These include Tyler Boyd and Rondale Moore.. Pearsall is a guy who’s value is ready to increase if Aiyuk or Samuel end up being traded.. If anything happened to Chase or Higgins, you’ll see Burton’s value shoot up as well.
