2024-25 NBA Draft Guide: Fantasy Face-off, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander vs. Luka Doncic

    Gilgeous-Alexander had a slim but definitive edge for most fantasy GMs, slotting in as the No. 2 player in 9-cat per-game value. Despite Doncic’s counting stat advantage in multiple categories, SGA’s massive edge in both field goal and free throw percentage fueled a truly elite campaign. It’s rare for a even a traditional big man to impact field goal percentage to such a positive degree; to get that kind of weighted average from a PG-eligible player was a true game-changer.

    Doncic was excellent, however, riding career-best efforts in free throw and 3-point percentage to finally deliver a season that matched his lofty ADP. It didn’t take much massaging for Doncic to improve upon last year’s top-5 finish in the 9-cat per-game rankings, either; he leapfrogged SGA to grab the No. 2 spot in 8-cat, was right behind him at No. 3 in punt-FG% builds and finished No. 2 in punt-FT% builds. You couldn’t go wrong with either, and both Doncic and Gilgeous-Alexander managed to play in 70-plus games. What’s not to love?
