2024-25 NBA Draft Guide: 12-Team, ESPN Points League Mock Draft

  • Jacob Dunne and I will be breaking down a couple of points league mock drafts for you. We decided that one of them could be a little more informal to get a more general idea of what the public was doing, while the other one would have more of the experts to see what we would do. This ESPN points league mock is the more informal one, and admittedly it was even more chaotic than I intended. However, I think it serves as a nice example of how the ESPN ranks can be exploited if you are well-prepared beforehand.

There are a few auto-draft teams obviously working off the ESPN rankings, mixed in with some people who play in leagues with me (maybe not the best idea for my competitive sake), a few of our guys from SportsEthos and a couple of other names picked up along the way when advertising the mock draft. The order was randomized one hour prior to the draft, so let’s see how it went down.

The only standard setting I changed was removing the four-center limit. I do this with all of my leagues because a C/PF counts against the limit while a PF/C does not and the position eligibility order is at the whim of ESPN. It’s the only position with a limit and it’s the only platform with that limit as a default, so I implore you to remove it from your own leagues as well.
